    Gordon Vales:

Is known as the "Silhouette Man"

Using just his
fingers,
Gordon creates
many complex images
in minutes .

Richard Wawro:

...was legally blind.
He drew with his
face
only inches from
the canvas,
yet his
perspective was
always maintained.

Richard
possessed a
massive,
literal memory.

Ping Lian Yeak:

...as a young child
had very poor
fine motor skills. Following the
"train the talent" mentality, his motor skills were
strengthened through tracing drills.

Ping Lian creates exquisite watercolor, charcoal, acrylic and
oil paintings.

   Artist: George Widener

George Widener:

...can calculate dates spanning thousands
of years in
lightning speed.
He is faster
than a calculator.

George combines his fascination and
skill with calendar
dates into his
amazing art.

Leslie Lemke:

...can play whatever
he hears with "astounding retention and accuracy".

Leslie was born
pre-mature and due
to glaucoma had his
eyes surgically removed during his first few months of life.

One day at age 14
he played an entire Tchaikovsky concerto after hearing it
one time in a movie.

Alonzo Clemons:

...is considered
an "acquired" savant
since his incredible sculpting ability
emerged after a
childhood head injury.

Alonzo can sculpt
3-D artworks of
animals in minutes, precisely replicating
each muscle and
tendon after only
fleeting views.

Christophe Pillault:

  ... unable to talk,
walk, feed himself
or to
use his fingers functionally,
Christophe  uses his hands to paint.
His fingerprints
on the reverse
side of his paintings
are his signature.

Gregory Blackstock:

...recently retired as
a dishwasher of over
25 years.

He plays the
accordion and the
piano.
He has learned
12 languages from  foreign language records.

Greg created the "Standard Time
Chart of the World" which is accurate
and easier to use
than any calculator.

Stephen Wiltshire:

...was born with
severe speech difficulties, almost mute, in his
own world and with
no eye conatct.

Stephen possesses an incredible visual memory.

He creates artwork of
complex structures upon a glimpse.

After taking a
45-minute helicopter ride
over Rome, he produced
an astonishingly accurate
aerial view of Rome on a
5 1/2 yard canvas in 3 days. Each window, each column,
etc was precise!

Jonathan Lerman:

"Not all flowers grow straight and true.
Yet, they are all beautiful"
quote by Jonathan Lerman's mother

Jonathan draws and creates portraits
usually focusing on
the face and eyes.

I would like to extend a sincere
"THANK YOU" to Dr. Darold Treffert for his contributions to our very
limited understanding and knowledge of savant  syndrome.

Congratulations on sharing such an amazing comprehensive
exhibition of the "abilities" within each of these amazing individuals
           with the world!
