The mission of the Disabilities Leadership Council is to find solutions for individuals with special needs by creating an association for professionals to share contemporary ideas to meet the current and future needs of individuals with disabilities and their families. They strive to find the most effective solutions to the issues faced by individuals with disabilities and their families.The Council also stresses the need for long-term planning for an individual with special needs as opposed to crisis management. This preparation includes financial planning, vocational training, residential arrangements, and provision for long-term healthcare.
